Huh? I believe your concern should be with the other direction since the
attacking team is now the GK and his team mates, given that the GK controls
and is about to make the last play/touch on the ball.
I made an offside call in a boys varsity HS match this fall when the
attacking player was the ONLY player beyond the halfway line on a wind-aided
punt. He came back to play/challenge for it just the other side of the
halfway line. The coach went ballistic on the flag screaming that "He can't
be offside, the ball never made it over the line!" Go figure?
