As I implied in my previous post, different situations should result
in different discussions. Here's one that has bothered me for
several years ...
Basic situation: Indoor, wall-ball (blue cards, boarding penalties,
the whole nine yards.)
Ball played by attackers down into my end (dual system). Eventually
a defender makes a save/stop just outside the goal area. His body is
about 2 1/2 feet from the wall and he stretches his foot out to the
wall, on the turf, to attempt to stop the ball. It ricochets off and
goes behind him toward the goal and the GK. An attacker, coming from
my right along the end, attempts to jump over the defender's leg to
get to the ball. He doesn't get very much height and trips (should
that be in quotes?) over the leg and goes down while banging loudly
into the wall. Loud whistle from my partner at the other end of the
field -- boarding. Blue card, 2 mins. Game continued. [I did not
want to get into an argument with my partner in the middle of the
field. ] ITOOTR (... This Referee), the attacker could have gone
around, the defender was _only_ playing the ball, and at BU14,
attackers very often play in an unsporting manner to take advantage
of the defenders and/or the referee.
So the guidance I'm requesting based upon the above is:
1) should I have called a foul?
2) should the dual-system be abolished (ok, this answer doesn't count)?
3) is my observation about BU14 which I ended with anywhere near the truth?
4) is attempting to jump over a legally extended leg (ITOOTR) and
failing to make the track team even worth discussing?
