It helps to understand that the "4 D"s are simply an attempt to capture in words the slides that orginally accompanied the FIFA presentation of the new rule. Moving on goal is part of the law, but it is also diagrammed with an attacker out in front of the goal, as opposed to another slide with the attacker down on the goal line. If an attacker is "taken out" on the goal line, he is either awarded a PK, or unhindered free kick which are at least comparable to the cross he might have been about to launch. The defenders may have made a horrendous play, but it is unlikely to have been calculated, cynical foul. Jon.
